What to expect

The intention of these classes is to provide a container of healing by supporting the body with the use of postures and props designed to facilitate the release of mind-body tension and bring the central nervous system to a state of balance and recovery.

Restorative yoga, also known as gentle yoga, is a type of yoga that aims to relax, revive, and refresh the body, mind, and spirit. It is a branch of hatha yoga, an ancient Indian practice that focuses on stretching and strengthening the physical body to prepare for sitting meditation.

During a restorative yoga session, you will experience slow and gentle movements, extended poses held with the help of props such as blankets and blocks, and an overall atmosphere of tranquility and ease. The poses can be held for a duration of two to twenty minutes. While restorative yoga may be similar to yin yoga, the two practices have differences. Yin yoga is intended to stretch deep layers of the body through long-held poses that apply a deliberate amount of stress while restorative focuses more on relaxing and supporting.

In fact, a regular yoga practice will actually help you become more flexible over time. Increased flexibility can help decrease the risk of injuries, create a better range of motion of joints, lengthen muscles, improve balance and overall health!Flexibility + mobility is a fun, judgment-free space, suitable for all levels. In this class we will work on different muscle groups and joints each week, using Functional movements, CARs (Controlled Articular Rotations), Kinstretch techniques as well as Myofascial release to improve range of motion and flexibility. Props such as straps, bolsters, blocks, and tennis balls will be used to target specific areas and help ease your body into the poses and stretches. Modifications and options will be offered throughout the class.

I am so happy to have found Flow Yoga. I regularly attend Stretch + Strength with teacher Selena Gervais and would highly recommend this class. I take several other yoga classes, but this is my favorite. It can be challenging since it incorporates a fair amount of core exercises and some cardio in addition to stretching. This class is on Monday at North Loop. Selena is excellent and has such a welcoming, enthusiastic spirit. She will adjust the class routine at times to meet different people’s needs and is fun to work out with. Love her music, positive motivation, energy, and yoga philosophy. I hadn’t taken any yoga classes in over a year, and I was so pleasantly surprised to find Flow. The classes were gentle yet invigorating enough to get me right back into it, without feeling overwhelmed or like I couldn’t keep up with others. I’ve really enjoyed the classes I’ve taken so far, and the instructors I’ve had. This really is a peaceful yet energetic, kind and open space to practice in. I recently moved back to Austin after having been away for eight years. As a yoga teacher, I wanted to find a place to practice that honors yoga's roots. This studio doesn't disappoint. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. The class schedules are so open and varied that it's impossible NOT to find something you enjoy.

Genuinely the best studio experience I've ever had. The teachers are all welcoming and knowledgeable, and there's always a huge variety of classes to take. On top of that, it's a truly safe place for lgbtq people. Plus, the rates are unbeatable!

I'm really enjoying this studio! I love that it is not too big, creating a more intimate experience. Many of the classes truly are all levels, giving me the opportunity to explore my practice and not feel intimidated. I mostly go to North Loop, but am excited to explore the other locations!

I started going to Flow Yoga about a month ago and haven't met all the instructors yet, however, I've been very pleased with this studio so far. I like the fact that I can attend classes at either of their 3 locations. The studios have warm atmosphere and friendly staff. It's a place for people of all ages and yoga levels. I particularly enjoy classes taught by Carolina and Valentyna, and look forward to discovering other great instructors.
